Durbar Square

Ancient temples and buildings surrounding Kathmandu makes this place one of its kind in the entire region. It is sumptuous place where visitors come and explore the beauty of this place. Every antique place has its own history and charm. The Durbar Square that is located in the heart of the place of Kathmandu is the greatest achievements of the Malla dynasty. Exotic and erotic carvings are located at this part of the region. Kal Bhairab and the Red Monkey God also stands erected in the midst of the city.

Durbar Square is considered to be one of the royal palaces in Kathmandu. This is a royal destination where the Malla and the Shah Kings reigned in the country during the ancient time. Blended with such palaces the city also environs with quadrangle illuminating the temples and courtyards. Presently the city is known as Hanuman Dhoka a name, which has been derived from the Hanuman statue. This monkey is devotee of the God Ram of the Hindu epic.

Durbar Square is a gilded cage where the Raj Kumari, a young girl who was chosen through a mystical and an ancient selection process so that she turn out to be the human embodiment of the Goddess, Durba. She used to be worshipped during public appearances and religious festivals in earlier times.

However, the temples here are being preserved as a symbol of national heritage for the visitors to come and view the exquisite beauty of this place. The palace is also used as a museum, which catches visitors’ attention to a large extent. Moreover, the Taleju temple is a sole worshipping place open for both the Buddhist and the Hindu faith.

Although the palace has decreased its attractiveness and original charm from the prior seventeenth century structural design, the Kathmandu’s Durbar Square still exhibits the prehistoric surroundings covering a land of five acres. Visitors are hopping to Kathmandu to have a glimpse of this ancient monument immensely.
